Sir,
through the column of your esteemed newspaper i wish to say something about the crime increasing among the womens in our society.
in todays time everybody is literate but then to people who are literate also do these kinds of things. people make their mentality that if a girl would go out of the house at night she would be kidnaped and raped and if a girl is raped then to people talk about girl only that she is raped because of this girls don't raise their voice except 40% of the girls who are strong. A girls is raped in the india every 22 minutes i think many of the peoples are not aware of this. As we read in the newspaper in our day to day life we see many cases coming on girls but then to people not stop doing these things. why do people say that a girl should be taught, they should be given equal education why the don't say that a boy should be given a equal education so that they can get aware that what is the pain of a girl from which she goes through.
i have really tried to bring this in limelight so that people could understand the pain and struggle of a girl.
i hope this would really awaken people from doing these kinds of things.
Thanking You
Yours Sincearly

The Editor,

The Times of India,

Subject: The grim reality of increasing crimes against women.

Sir,

Through the columns of your esteemed daily newspaper, I like to highlight my deep concern over the increasing crimes against women in our cities, towns and villages

The increase in crimes against women are going unnoticed. There is no proper data and information on crimes against women are conflicting. There are numerous cases where reporting a crime against women are shrugged off. In some cases the unfortunate victims are compelled to go through more traumatic experience at the hand of those who are supposed to be the protectors. The fear of social stigma and the uncertainty of getting justice are the main reasons why most of the crimes against women go unreported. Studies have also shown that the rise in alcoholism led crimes against women and domestic violences.

Further, these outrages against women have created a poor image of India among foreign countries. Millions of foreign tourists visit India every year and this has directly affected the tourism industry. It is a matter of great shame that when our country is marching towards prosperity and advancement, the barbaric acts against women are on the rise.

Our fundamental duties under Article 51A of the Constitution also include the provision that it shall be the duty of every citizen of India to renounce practices derogatory to the dignity of women. However, crimes against women are increasing. It is appalling to read news reports of how police continue to be insensitive to hapless victims of outraged modesty and their families. It seems even our public places and transport are unsafe for women. Even in the presence of substantial evidences, the criminals are set free on bail. These criminals have absolutely no regards for the law of the land.

Stringent measures need to be taken to curb this and safeguard women. The government, the law enforcement agencies and the general public must unite to put an end to violence against women. The Government must also pass and implement more strict laws than the existing ones for the safety of women. The Government must form special police cells with women officers and other police personnel to receive reports about crime against women and take severe actions against the culprits. More women need to be recruited into our police forces.

Yours sincerely,

B Ramesh Dhar
