Subject: Random cutting of trees during Durga Puja

Sir:

I am writing this letter to express my deep anguish over the random cutting of trees during Durga Puja celebrations. These trees in the cities are cut to accommodate Durga Puja Pandals. In my colony 5 big trees were cut in the recent Durga Puja celebrations. It hurt me a lot.

I need not dwell upon the advantages of trees here. Our cities are already facing the wrath of severe climate changes. Trees are the only saviors who can save the environment and our cities. Their number all across the city is already below the minimum required number. Still I can’t understand why these trees were felled.

Through the medium of your esteemed daily I appeal to the Mayor, and the State Forest Minister to look into this thoughtless act. Kindly give my views enough space in your reputed daily. People should also raise their voice against this.

Yours truly,

Meera
