My dear Gilbert,
I’m sure you are happy, healthy and in the best of your mood as ever. Yesterday, I happened to meet dear aunt, your respected mother, and was surprisingly shocked to find her worried about you and your habit of taking your studies lightly. According to her, you keep wasting your time in roaming around with boys of low repute. What seemed to worry her most is her fear that you have even started following their footsteps !
Don’t forget, my friend, that life is too precious to be wasted like this ! Don’t let it slip off just like that. If you want to rise in this world, spend your time in some more fruitful pursuits like reading good literature. Your mind will then roam around in the realm of imagination and experience such things, which you can not even think of. Reading literary books is not only a source of great joy, but a solace to the human soul and a feast for human mind.
By coming into direct contact of great minds through their books, we know how different people had behaved at different times.
You must, therefore, come out of the company of your present friends, dear Gilbert, to enjoy open, fresh air in the beautiful orchard of books. You will have a changed, refreshing and greatly rewarding experience, indeed !
With best wishes from all of us here.
Yours affectionately,
David
