Lichens requires a special temperature and condition . They grow where pollution is on access .They are also good natural indicators as their solution is used to test acid and bases. They are natural pollution checkers.

Answer:

lichen can not grow in the polluted air having high concentration of sulphur dioxide. in delhi the air is severely polluted and hence lichen growth is not possible. in Manali or Darjeeling there is no air pollution. it is forested region. the atmosphere is cool and hence lichen can be seen.
