Life-saving hormone is secreted by the adrenal gland.

The three major hormones secreted by the gland are epinephrine, norepinephrine and cortisol. These three are considered as the major stress hormones that help to escape a situation of stress.

Epinephrine is commonly known as the “flight or fight hormone” that allows for an immediate reaction in a condition of stress to either escape or fight it.  Norepinephrine has similar functions to that of epinephrine and increases awareness during stress. Under stress, cortisol helps maintain ‘fluid balance’ and ‘blood pressure’.
