Light gases diffuse faster than heavy gases . Why?

Light gas diffuse faster because it's mass is very less and the particles are very small they are light. they are at the top of the atmosphere. while heavy gases has heavy mass so they occupy bottom of the atmosphere and they need time to diffuse
