Let the refractive index of the 1st medium (air ) be n and that of 2nd medium ( glass ) be n'. So according to the Snell's law, Dividing equation (i) by (ii), we get

n = sin 45/sin r2

Therefore,

sin r2 = sin 45×sinr1 /sin 30

sinr2 = 1/ root 2 × 2sin r1

= root 2 sin r1
