Light of wavelength 4000angstrom falls on the surface of cesium .Calculate the energy if the photoelectron emitted. The critical wavelength for photoelectric effect is 6600angstrom.

Light of wavelength is 4000 angstrom


By using the formula Hf = K + W


K = hf - W


K = hc * (1/λ - 1/λo)


K = 12400 eV Å * (1/ (4000 Å) - 1/ (6600 Å) )


K = 1.22 eV


Therefore, answer: - Kinetic energy of photoelectrons emitted is 1.22 eV
