"Enteritis is the inflammation of the small intestine, also known as the small bowel. Enteritis are caused by four pathogens, Norovirus, Rotavirus, Campylobacter and Salmonella.

Other common causes of infectious enteritis include bacteria such as Shigella and E. coli, as well as viruses such as adenovirus, astrovirus and calicivirus.

Symptoms of Enteritis:

1. Nausea

2. Vomiting

3. Diarrhea

4. Fever

5. Abdominal or rectum pain

6. Cramping

7. Loss of appetite

8. Discharge or blood from rectum

For the symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting, you may need to replenish the loss of fluids with intravenous fluids.

Depending on the cause and severity of your symptoms, you may require anti-inflammatory medicine or antibiotics to treat the issue.

Ways to prevent Enteritis:

1. Wash hands with soap and hot water before and after handling food.

2. Use alcohol-based cleansers or hand wipes if no running water is available.

3. Avoid drinking untreated water when traveling.

4. Use clean surfaces to prepare food.

5. Avoid cross-contamination of food and utensils when cooking.
