X-axis and Y-axis are two mutually perpendicular lines. They intersect each other only at ONE point. Their point of intersection is called Origin. It is denoted by O with coordinates (0,0).

A line parallel to y-axis will have the following properties.

  1. It will cut x-axis only at one point.
  2. Its distance from y-axis will remain same through-out the line.
  3. The equation of this parallel line will depend on its position. Two cases arise.

        CASE 1: If line is parallel to the Right-side of y-axis, then its equation is

              x = a    ( where a > 0)

        CASE 2: If line is parallel to the Left-side of y-axis, then its equation is

              x = a    ( where a < 0)
