Answer

Take 1/(x+y)=m ; 1/(x-y) =n

we get

44m+30n=10 .....equation I

and 55m+40n=13 ......equation II

multiplying equation by I by 4 and II by 3

we get

176m+120n=40.....eq. III

165m+120n=39.....eq. IV

Now subtract eq. IV from III

we get

11m=1

m=1/11

substituting m=1/11 in eq. I and solving

we get n=1/5

we know

m=1/(x+y) and n=1/(x-y)

therefore x+y=11 and x-y=5

solving these two equations

we get x=8 and y=3
