2x - 7y = 7 --------(1)

3x +y = 22

=> 21x + 7y = 154 ------(2)

On adding equation 1 and 2, we get

23x = 161

=> x = 7

Now, put the value of x in equation 1

14 - 7y = 7

=> 7y = 14-7

=> 7y = 7

=> y = 1

(i) 2x - 7y = 7
(ii) 3x + y = 22

(i) × 3 : 6x - 21y = 21
(ii) × 2 : 6x + 2y = 44

(ii) - (i) :
(6x + 2y) - (6x - 21y) = 44 - 21
23y = 23
y = 1

substituting value of y:
3x + 1 = 22
3x = 21
x = 7

(x, y) = (7, 1)
