The only rocket engine known to use hydrogen in first stage from the launch was the Space Shuttle. Also, Hydrogenis stored at a very low temperature as a liquid to increase the amount that could be carried. This cold hydrogen is also used as a coolant for the rocket engine.

Liquid hydrogen has a high calorific value and heat output is very wide intensity through burning.
Its high heating value provide better ignition temperature, sufficient flame sustaining time.
Thus, Liquid hydrogen is used as fuel in spacecraft.
