pressure in fluids is directly proportional to the height on the column h.so pressure of the fluids surface does not depend on the cross sectional area of the container which holds it.

Note that the pressure in a fluids depends only on the depth from the surface and not on the shape of the container.thus in a fluid can freely move in various parts, liquids stays the same level in every part, regardless of the shape,as shown in (figure).
