liquids generally have lower density as compared to solids.But you must have observed that ice floats on water.find out why? explain?.

It's because Ice have a lower density than water.

water has an anamolous property that it start expanding after 4°C and as it starts expanding ,density is decreased. That is why ice floats on water.
