Genetics is used in following in agriculture

.To study about the hereditary nature of plants

This helps in understanding of how the traits of the plants get inherited

  • Used for cross breeding

Cross breeding helps in giving out the useful traits to be expressed out of the plants

  • Used in the creation of hyv seeds

These seeds are genetically modified for getting a good yield out of the agricultural harvest.

  • Used for artificially selecting the type of crop

This kind of artificial selection has been practised for in case of wild cabbage to convert into useful varieties.
