Answer:

Warm-blooded animals are defined as the animals which can regulate and maintain constant internal body temperature. They can survive in any temperature range as they can adapt to it easily. Mammals are the best examples of warm-blooded animals.

They can keep their body temperature constant. So also known as homeothermal.

  • They maintain their body temperature higher than their environment by some metabolic processes like contraction of muscles, friction produced by flow of blood etc.
  • They have a higher basal metabolic rate, and also a greater capacity to increase their metabolic rate.
  • They usually have well-developed insulation in order to retain body heat.
  • In hot environments, they use evaporative cooling to shed excess heat (eg- by sweating).

Examples:-

Aves (crow, parrot, peacock, sparrow, kiwi etc) and Mammals (man, dog, camel, rat etc) are warm blooded animals.
