Answer:-

The difference between solid and gas are:-

Solids:-

  • A solid have definite mass, volume and shape.
  • Solids are rigid.
  • The particles in a solid are closely packed.
  • The empty spaces between them are negligible.
  • Solids doesn't undergoes a change in shape easily.
  • Solids have high densities.
  • Solids doesn't shows the property of diffusion.
  • There are large attractive forces between the molecules in a solid.
  • Solids cannot be compressed.

Gases:-

  • A gas has neither definite shape noe definite volume.
  • The attractive forces between the molecules of a gas are negligible.
  • The molecules in a gas have high Kinetic energy.
  • The gases are highly compressible due to large vacant spaces between the molecules of a gas.
  • Gases shows the property of diffusion.
  • Gases have low densities as compared to solids.
  • Gases can occupy the whole space available to them.
  • Gases exert equal pressure in all directions on the walls of container.

More Info:-

  • The attractive forces between the molecules of same kind are called cohesive forces.
  • The attractive forces between the molecules of different kinds are called adhesive force.
  • Heat , sound , hate , shadow ,etc are not regarded as matter because they neither occupy space nor have mass
