application of prisms are binocular or periscope and application of lenses are spectacles

Well, There are basically 2 types of lens. Concave and convex. Now The first and most common application of the lenses are that they help to correct myopia and hypermetropia respectively. They are also used for rear glasses of car, Magic mirrors in amusement parks.

Prism are used for experiment of spectrum and Diffraction. Reflection of light breaking them down. It is also used in quantum physics.
