Pinch your nose

Use your thumb and index finger to pinch your nostrils shut. Breathe through your mouth. Continue to pinch for 10 to 15 minutes. Pinching sends pressure to the bleeding point on the nasal septum and often stops the flow of blood.

First Aid for nose bleeds are as follows :-

• Patient should be kept upright in comfortable posture with his head held back.

• Patient should be asked to breathe through his mouth and not to blow his nose.

• Keep up a bag filled with ice which is used to cool parts of the body on the nose & head of the patient.

• Press the bleeding side of nose strongly.

• Little bit of bleeding from nose will result harmful, if it's bleeding heavily, then the patient should be advised to send for the doctor.
