Social agents are agents that influence the socialization of an individual. There are many social agents. The most important agents that affect a child are:
Family, peers, school and mass media.
Family: the family help to set the basic principles a child lives by.
Peers: children are exposed to competition and conflict through interaction with peers. This helps them learn how to deal with conflicts and competitions.
School: school gives knowledge and discipline and help set a child in order.
Mass media: this exposes a child to many things. Children get to pick their role model from the media.
Child socialization: There are two stages in child socialization. They are,
- Primary socialization: Attitude, actions and values are taught to the child.
- Secondary socialization: The behavioral attributes are taught to the child.
