The following are the reasons for adverse male and female ratio in India:
1. Social factors: the patriarchal Indian society is male-centric thus they force women to give birth to boy baby and abort the girl child.
2. Technological factors: new technological inventions such as ultrasonography are used to determine the sex of the infants and some families after knowing the sex of the infant abort them and only give birth to the male child.
3. Economical factors: Indian families consider their daughters as an economic burden due to some prevalent social evils such as Dowry. Therefore, they prefer to get a male child.
