1) The excessive use of chemical fertilizers resulted in loss of soil fertility.

2) The chemicals escape from the soil and pollute ground water , rivers and lakes.

Advantages of chemical fertilizers is-

1) Chemical fertilizers provide minerals which dissolve in water and are immediately available to plants.

2) Chemical fertilizers also kill bacteria and other organisms in the soil.
