Cork cells are airtight, dead, suberized and impervious to water which helps them not to allow entry of any microorganisms and also provide mechanical support or strength to the plant.

HEY MATE. HERE IS YOUR ANSWER.

A) Cork cells are dead and closely packed without intercellular spaces.
b) Cork cells are made impervious by a layer of suberin, a waxy material.
Cork is formed by the division of cork cambium or the lateral meristem(phelloderm).
Cork provides mechanical strength to trees and is fire resistant.

HOPE IT HELPS YOU.
