There are three types of blood vessels reported in human circulatory system.
(1.) The Arteries - it carries blood from heart to the body, mainly oxygenated blood except pulmonary artery. it's lumen is smaller than vessels and wall is thicker, blood flow in high pressure.
(2.) The Vessels - it carries blood from different parts of body to heart, mainly deoxygenated blood except pulmonary vein. it's lumen is larger and wall is thinner. it contains valves to prevent backflow of blood.
(3.) Capillaries - these are very thin vessels which helps in diffusion of gases, nutrients and wastes in tissues of different organs.
