Barber, washer man, weavers, laborers, blacksmith and shopkeeper were some of the families who lived in the village Kalpattu. However, traders, weaver, shopkeeper, and laborers were some of the people who were more dependent on farming.  

Among all these groups the ordinary or the common labor was the poorest of all as their earning de-pended either on the availability of labor or on any other work they were efficient to do.
