The factors which affect communication are called barriers to Communication. There are many barriers which become stumbling block in the smooth process of communication.

The factors are as follows:

Language barriers - homonyms , homophones, Use of Jargon, technical words, inadequate knowledge about the language, less information and extra information.

Mechanical barriers - it happens due to fault in the instruments which use for communication.

Physical barriers - Due to environment if communication is disturbed we can call then physical barriers. Noise, time , proxemics are physical barriers.

Psychological barriers - emotions, status barriers, prejudice,bias, assumptions, trust and distrust, rambling mind, emotional gaps are the psychological barriers

Socio-cultural barriers - due to cultural differences communication is disturbed. Human values , perception and thinking process are the socio-cultural barriers.
