Three important food intervention programmes that were introduced in India were :-
- Antyodaya Anna Yojana and Annapurna Schemes - It was introduced in the year 2000 . It were started with target groups of extremely poor population and senior citizens respectively .
- Public Distribution System - Under this system ration or fair price shops have been set up to provide food grains at subsidised rates to families that hold ration cards . People who hold the yellow card [which is the people below poverty line] get grains at even more further subsidised rate .
- Food For Work [FFT] - This programme was launched in 1970s . It was introduced to help the poor to earn food in return of some work .
