1. River Tawi - River Tawi, also known as Surya Putri, originates near the Kaplas Mountains and flows westward till Udhampur, and then southward along the Jammu City till it joins Chenab River in Pakistan. River Tawi near Jammu City has the Bahu Bridge. The Mahatmaya temple is present on the left bank of the Tawi opposite old Jammu City. The village KATAL BATAL near Nagrota is famous for its Hindu rituals across the river. The J & K government is taking action to build an artificial lake on the river Tawi at Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu for promoting tourism and also for providing water supply to dry areas of the city.
2. River Jhelum - The Jhelum River, a tributary of the Chenab River, is a river of north-western India and eastern Pakistan. Several water-control structures have been built across the Jhelum river as a result of the Indus Basin Project. They include the Mangla dam, Rasul Barrage, Trimmu Barrage, Haranpur Victoria Bridge. The canals include - The Upper Jhelum Canal that runs from the Mangla Dam to the Chenab river, the Rasul-Qadirabad Link Canal that runs from the Rasul Barrage to the Chenab river, and the Chashma-Jhelum Link Canal that runs from the Chashma Barrage across the Indus River to the Jhelum river downstream of the Rasul Barrage.
