Answer:

Difference between Mitosis and Meiosis

Mitosis is equational cell division whereas meiosis is reductional cell division because chromosome number reduced to half.

Mitosis produces 2 cells whereas meiosis produces 4 cells.

In mitosis, chromatids separate in anaphase whereas in meiosis chromatids do not separate in anaphase I

Signicance of Meiosis

1.Conservation of specific chromosome number

2. Increases the genetic variability

✌️

There can't be mitosis without DNA replication in S phase.

Yes DNA can replicate without cell division

Difference in anaphase of mitosis and meiosis

1. Centromere divides in anaphase in mitosis whereas division of centromere is absent in meiosis I

2. In mitosis anaphase, chromosome has single chromatid whereas meiosis anaphase has two chromatids

3. In mitosis anaphase, chromatids separate and become daughter chromosome whereas in Meiosis anaphase, chromatids do not separate.
