Main functions of skeleton:
It mainly serves 6 major functions.
1)support.
2)Movement.
3)protection.
4)production of blood cells.
5)storage of minerals And
6)Endocrine regulation.
SKELETION:
It provides frame work which supports the body and maintaims its shape.
Without the rib cages, costal cartilages and intercostal muscles the lungs would collapse.
so,our sleleton helps not to collapse.
MOVEMENT:
The joims btw bones allow movement.some allowing the wider range of movement than others.
PROTECTION:
*The skull protects the brain
*The vertebrate protects spinal cord.
*The ribcage, spine and sternum protects lungs and heart.
BLOOD CELL PRODUCTION:
The skeleton in the site of haemotaposis, the devolpment of blood cells take place in bone marrow.
STORAGE OF MINERALS:
The bone matrix can store calicum and is involved on calicum metabolism and bone marrow can store iron.and involves in iron metabolism.
ENDOCRINE REGULATION:
Bones cell release a harmone called osteocalcin which contributes to regulate blood sugar and fat desposition.
