    National Goals of India are set after getting Independence from the British in 1947. They were taken care of in the Constitution. They are broadly categorized into four:

   Democracy

   Socialism

   Social, Economic and Political Justice , and

   Secularism

 

Democracy: 

     India is a three tier indirect (representative) democracy. Free and fair elections are to be conducted in the multiparty system. In order to ensure that an election commission is set up.

 

Socialism: 

      Agriculture is the backbone of the economy. Goal is to see that agriculture sector is helped. Welfare schemes related to food, housing and jobs are launched. A social welfare commission is established.  Five year plans and various yojanas are implemented. Constitution ensures fundamental rights for the people.

 

Social Economic and Political Justice: 

     Abolishment of bonded labour.  Service recruitment boards are set up. Reservation policies are established.

 

Secularism: 

     Equality for all faiths and religions.
