overloading means that there is a short circuit and this also means that there is a lot of pressure on the fuse and the fuse cannot hold more electricity and hence it bursts and there is a short circuit. hope it helps.

Causes of overloading are:
When live and neutral wire come together into direct contact
Accidental hike in supply voltage
By connecting many appliances to a single socket
Short circuiting means abnormal connection between two nodes of electric circuit.
A fuse in a circuit prevents damage to the appliances and the circuit due to overloading,which means that there is lot of pressure on the fuse
