Reptiles are cold-blooded animals.  They typically lay hard shelled eggs and have skin covered with scales or a bony external plate.  Some examples of reptiles are: alligators, crocodiles, lizards, snakes, turtles, and tortoises. The science dealing with reptiles is called herpetology.
