Two methods that I would suggest for the better management of water resources are

• Rain water harvesting - The rain water that falls on our roof tops get wasted mostly by flowing down the roads or the sewages. If this water is conserved by underground tanks this might be a great use at summer time.  
• Recycling of water - The water used in the house for certain things such as filters, bathing water, etc., can be reused for toilet flushing, this saves a large amount of water.
