the two observations are as follows.
(1) a hissing sound is heard.
(2) it starts boiling and slaked lime is obtained.

the compound obtained is slaked lime.
it is a combination reaction as two reactants calcuim oxide and water combines to form a single product calcuim hydroxide which is a base.
