Answer:

students like to play basketball= 7

students like to play cricket= 8

students like to play both basketball and cricket= 3

total students like to play basketball= 7+3= 10

total students like to play cricket = 8+3= 11

and 3 is added to both because 3 students like to play both basketball and cricket.

so, 10 students like to play basketball and,

11 students like to play cricket.

Hope it's helpful..!!!

Given : 7 students like to play Basketball

8 like to play Cricket.

3 students like to play on both Basketball and Cricket

To Find :  How many students like to play Basketball or Cricket or both

Solution:

n( B)  = like to play Basketball  = 7

n( C)  = like to play Cricket  = 8

n ( B  ∩ C) = like to play both  = 3

n ( B U C) =  like to play Basketball or Cricket or both

n ( B U C) =  n(B) + n(C) - n ( B U C)

=> n ( B U C) =  7 + 8 - 3

=> n ( B U C) =  12

Hence 12 Players like to play Basketball or Cricket or both
