Local people around forests are referred to as stakeholders for conservation of forests for the following reasons :

 1. Local people are dependent on forest produce

 2. They usually cut down the branches of the trees and pluck their leaves, but do not cut down the whole tree

 3. They also collect green fodder and graze their cattle in the forest.

Answer:

Local people around forest areas are stakeholders in a number of ways that is basedon a mutual relationship among the two; the people and the forest.

For instance, local people are dependent on forest produce and products. In this way people gratify their needs from the products of forests. For example forest is a source of building materials like timber and poles. The fruits of the forest are source of food for the people.

Secondly, the locals collect green fodder from the forests to feed their animals and at a times they graze their livestock in the forest in order tosustain their survival.

Thirdly, the locals can use parts of the trees in the forest but not cutting the tree as a whole, this means that they can use the branches and leaves for various uses that are of benefit to them.

Lastly, it is believed that forests are sources of rain so the locals must take care of forest in order to control and prevent environmental challenges like drought and famine that can drastically affect their way of life.
