Nope, that statement is correct. The local time of Brazil is about 5-6 hours ahead of India. For example, in Brazil it's 5:04 P.M. (while I'm answering this), while in India it's only 12:34 A.M.

That means India is almost 7 – 8 hours ahead of Brazil. For example if it is 1:00 AM on 10th January 2018 in India then in Brazil it will be 17:30 on 9th January 2018. At present Brazil has 3 time zones.
