Step-by-step explanation:

52:-

Steps of Construction:-

  • Draw a number line and mark numbers 0,1,2...on it.

  • Construct a rectangle whose length 6 units and breadth is 4 units.

  • OABC is a rectangle and OA = BC = 6 units and AB = OC = 4 units

  • Join O and B.

  • OB is a diagonal of a rectangle which divides it into two congruent triangles.

  • They are ∆BCO and ∆ OAB .

  • Since they are congruent their areas are equal .

  • In ∆ OAB , angle A = 90° so it is a right angled triangle.

  • By Pythagoras theorem, The square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides.

  • OB^2 = OA^2+AB^2

  • OB^2=6^2+4^2

  • OB^2 = 36+16

  • OB^2 = 52

  • OB =√52 units

  • Draw an arc on the number line with the radius OB =√52 then it cuts the number line at K.

  • K represents√52 on the number line.

  • K = 7.2 ... (shown in the figure)

  • The value of √52 = 7.2111...
