CONNECTIVE TISSUE:

The human body is composed of just four basic kinds of tissue:

  • nervous tissue
  • muscular tissue
  • epithelial tissue
  • connective tissue.

Connective tissue supports and binds other tissues of the body.

Protection is another major function of connective tissue, in the form of fibrous capsules and bones that protect delicate organs and, of course, the skeletal system.

TYPES:

  • Loose connective tissue.
  • Adipose tissue.
  • Blood forming tissues.
  • Dense connective tissue.
  • Cartilage.
  • Bone.

The connective tissue is derived from the embryonic mesoderm. Such a tissue possesses varieties of subtypes-general or ordinary connective tissue, haematopoietic tissue, and specialised tissues which include cartilages, bones, joints.
