Explanation:
rusting
Rust is an iron oxide, a usually reddish brown oxide formed by the reaction of iron and oxygen in the presence of water or air moisture. Several forms of rust are distinguishable both visually and by spectroscopy, and form under different circumstances
Here are some ways where we can prevent rusting :
1. Paint it - Paint the metal with any durable acrylic paint. Do not use Water-Soluable paints, since they will only worsen the rust. Rust will form underneath this type of paint.
2. Keep moisture at Bay - Avoid contact with water or moisture. We know that the water has chemical formula which corresponds to 2 parts Hydrogen and 1 part Oxygen. Hence oxygen is responsible for oxidation of iron and therefore forms rust.
3. Coat it with Oil - Use of oil or grease significantly reduces the chances of developing rust in iron. Basically, oil or grease form a protective layer over iron just as paint does and therefore prevent rust formation.
Answer:
1.Rusting is an oxidation reaction. The iron reacts with water and oxygen to form hydrated iron(III) oxide, which we see as rust. Here is the word equation for the reaction: iron + water + oxygen → hydrated iron(III) oxide.
Coat it with Oil - Use of oil or grease significantly reduces the chances of developing rust in iron. Basically, oil or grease form a protective layer over iron just as paint does and therefore prevent rust formation.
2.Properties of an Alloy
Some properties are reactivity, electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, good tensile strength, resistance to deformation, malleability etc.
