Look at the diagrams below. A sheet of paper and a crumpled paper are thrown down from the same height and time is noted. Answer the following questions. (a ) Will the time taken to reach the bottom of the container be the same for the sheet of paper and crumpled paper ? Why ? Explain giving reason. (b) What will happen in case (ii) ?

no. crumbled paper has less surface than the other.so gravity on sheet will be more. so it reaches earlier.oncase ii,it may have more weight.

a) No, the crumbled paper will reach in less time because the area of crumbled paper is less than the area of sheet of paper.

  • In a sheet of paper the bottom area is more than the crumbled paper and so the pressure applied on sheet of paper will be less than the pressure applied on the crumbled paper.
