"a) The Humboldt Current or Peru Current which is a cold ocean current which has its cooling effect that impacts the climates of Galapagos Island, Peru, and Ecuador.

b) The counter equatorial currents is absent in Southern ocean, since, it is an eastward flowing current and mostly has its impact on Pacific, Indian Ocean, and Atlantic Ocean.

c) The counter equatorial current does not flow in northern part of Indian Ocean because of the movements of the winds.

d) The Labrador Current which is the cold current meet the Gulf Stream which is a warm current at the coast of Newfoundland."

Answer:

(a) How does the Humboldt current affect the climate of the South American coast?

ANS. Humboldt current is a cold current and it decreases the amount of temperature on the coastal region of South America.

(b) In which oceans are counter equatorial currents not observed and why?

ANS. Counter equatorial currents are not observed in Artic & Southern ocean. These oceans are located near the polar regions . The effects of trade winds is found to be less in these oceans. Therefore, counter equatorial currents are not observed in these oceans.

(c)Which currents are absent in northern part of the Indian Ocean and why?

ANS. Cold currents are absent in the northern part of the Indian ocean. The northern part of Indian Ocean is inclued in the temperate zone. So cold currents are absent in the northern part of the Indian Ocean.

(d) In which regions do the cold and warm ocean currents meet?

ANS .The cold and warm currents meets at south Atlantic Ocean, North Pacific Ocean, South Pasific and Indian Ocean.
