Let us conduct the experiment

Explanation:

This experiment conducted to identify the gas released .

a)The aim of the experiment

By Using the experimental setup, to determine the gas released is carbondioxide.

b) Germinating seeds are used in this experiment because, the germinating seeds release carbondioxide gas while respiration. The seeds take in oxygen and release out carbondioxide.

c) Lime water is the common name for calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)₂.

The carbondioxide gas turns lime water(transparent) to milky, due to the formation of CaCO₃ which is insolube.

This is a confirmatory test that the gas released by the germination seeds is carbondioxide gas.

The reaction involved is :

CO₂ + Ca(OH)₂--> CaCO₃ + H₂O

                           (milkiness due to calcium carbonate )
