Nouns are basically name words. Nouns are divided into various types depending on the characteristics of the word such as proper nouns, compound nouns, abstract nouns, etc.

Compound nouns are nouns that are a combination of two meaningful and existing words when added together produce another meaningful existent word.

Based on the exercises provided.

  1. Cup + Cake = Cupcake
  2. Sun + Flower = Sunflower
  3. Pine + Apple = Pineapple
  4. Butter + Fly = Butterfly
  5. Stop + Watch = Stopwatch
  6. Snow + Man = Snowman
  7. Star + Fish = Starfish
  8. Cow + Boy = Cowboy
  9. Pan + Cake = Pancake
  10. Water + Melon = Watermelon
  11. Fire + Man = Fireman
  12. Rain + Coat = Raincoat

We can notice that two regular words of different meanings when added together provide a different word with a different meaning. These are called compound nouns.
