Yes, 1st one is the hardest material diamond.

2nd one is the thing that we use in our pencil graphite.

Diamond is the hardest material and cannot conduct electricity. It is really precious.

Graphite is so soft that it breaks easily and conduct electricity. It is not that much precious.

Diamond is formed by the strong bonding of carbon atoms. The valency of carbon in diamond is filled making it strong.

Now graphite is made up of carbon. The structure of the bond is not filled. Only 3 valency is bonded strongly, one bond is not that strong making it more soft.
