The Shore has been called fatal because on either side of it , there was death waiting for the two lovers. If they stayed there they were show to be overpowered by Lord Ullin's horseman and killed. And if they left the shore to sail into the Stormy sea, they were sure to be drowned. That is why the shore has been called 'fatal’.
