yes, louis 16 was the main reason for the French revolution. Louis 16 introduced his taxation policy. According to this yaxation policy the clergy and nobles were exempted from paying taxes and various taxes were levied on peasents and the citizens of the 3rd estate. 81% of a peasent's income went in paying various taxes. This taxation policy and many other monarchial measures provoked a feeling of criticism against louis 16's governement which led to the French revolution.
