Tenses can be divided into 3 sections:

● Past Tense
● Present Tense
● Future Tense

We'll be dealing with PRESENT TENSE in this answer:

Present Tense (and all other tenses) is further classier into 4 sections!

• Simple Present
• Present Continuos
• Present Perfect
• Present Perfect Continuous

According to your question, we'll discuss the first three in greater details.

◆ Simple Present Tense

It denotes anything and everything that happens in a regular basis -

Eg: 1. I go to school everyday.
2. The earth rotates around itself in 24 hours.

◆ Present Continuous Tense

It denotes something which is happening right at this moment -

Eg: 1. I am doing my homework.
2. The children are playing in the park.

◆ Present Perfect Tense

It denotes an action that is done but still has it's mark left -

Eg: 1. Riya has had his lunch.

2. The children have played in the playground.

NOTE: PAST PARTICIPLE FORM OF THE VERB TO BE USED WITH PRESENT PERFECT TENSE.

What's Simple Present Tense?

Simple Present Tense is the tense used for things happening right now or general truths or things happening right now!

It is also used talking about the things which are fixed or is sure to happen, whether it be in present or future.

Mostly, verbs are used in root form that is V1 form in Simple Present Tense.

E.g : He tries hard.

What's Simple Continuous Tense?

There are Present Continuous Tense, Future Continuous Tense and Past continous tense!

Present Continous Tense :-

Using present continuous tense, it means the action is not finished or ended yet. It's still happening in the present!

It can be used to describe things going on right now!

Also used to describe an event which is sure to happen in future!

E.g: I am studying.

Future Continuous Tense :-

Futute continous (progressive) tense is used when Some thing will happen in future and will extend for an expected time.

General form : will + be + present participle (V1 + ing)

e.g.: I will be meeting you tommorow.

Past Continous Tense :-

It refers to action which was started at some point of time at past and is still happening!

E.g : I was making soup when she arrived.

What's Present Perfect Tense?

It's used to describe what's happenin' between Present and Past. Time of action is in the past, but not specified

It can be used when an action started before and continuous now!

It can be used to describe an action performed during a time which isn't finished yet.

It can used when the action was just completed!

E.g ; Someone has stolen my pen!
